First Steps on the Field

A skilled rugby player from his days in Ukraine, Yurii wasted no time upon arriving in Israel and immediately sought out a club where he could continue playing. He soon found his place with Yizreel Rugby Club, where his strong physique and outstanding athletic ability quickly made him a key player in the youth squad. Today, he already shines in Yizreel’s senior team, showcasing remarkable versatility by excelling in positions 1 through 8.

A Proud Moment in the National Team

Although he has only lived in Israel for a short time, international rugby regulations allowed Yurii to represent the country at the youth level. Unlike the senior national team, where players must reside in Israel for at least five years to be eligible, youth teams allow participation based on current residency. This gave Yurii the opportunity to fulfill a dream and don the blue-and-white jersey—now a symbol of home and belonging for him.

An Emotional Reunion in Poland

But the most moving moment in Yurii’s young career happened not on Israeli soil but in Poland. During a match with the Israeli national team, he was reunited with his mother—a refugee from Ukraine—in a meeting that touched the hearts of everyone present. On a rugby field in Poland, the oval ball helped reconnect a family separated by war.

“I deeply appreciate the opportunity I was given through the Na’ale Program, which allowed me to explore life in Israel with peace of mind,” says Yurii. Юрій Олійник, новий іммігрант з України, прибув до Ізраїлю в рамках проекту “Наала”, з великою мрією у серці — стати невід’ємною частиною ізраїльської родини.

Перші кроки на полі

Як досвідчений гравець у регбі ще з України, Юрій одразу після прибуття до Ізраїлю шукав клуб, до якого міг би приєднатися, і так знайшов свій шлях до регбійного клубу Їзреель. Його міцна статура та виняткові атлетичні здібності швидко зробили його ключовим гравцем молодіжної команди, а сьогодні він уже виступає за дорослу команду Їзреель, демонструючи рідкісну здатність грати на всіх позиціях від 1 до 8.

Момент гордості в національній збірній

Незважаючи на порівняно короткий час проживання в Ізраїлі, міжнародні правила дозволили Юрію представляти країну вже в юнацькому віці. На відміну від дорослої збірної, де гравець повинен проживати в Ізраїлі принаймні п’ять років, щоб мати право на участь, у молодіжних збірних можна грати на підставі поточного проживання. Так Юрію вдалося здійснити мрію і одягнути біло-блакитну форму, яка стала для нього символом дому та приналежності.

Зворушлива зустріч у Польщі

Але найзворушливіший момент у молодій кар’єрі Юрія відбувся саме під час матчу збірної Ізраїлю в Польщі. Там, на польській землі, він возз’єднався зі своєю матір’ю, біженкою з України, для зустрічі, яка зворушила всіх присутніх. Овальний м’яч регбі знову з’єднав родину, яку розділила війна.

Назустріч новому розділу

Сьогодні Юрій стоїть перед новим викликом — призовом до Армії оборони Ізраїлю як активний спортсмен. Він продовжує тренуватися в Їзреелі і водночас робить внесок у громаду та розвиток регбі як тренер команди до 16 років клубу Маккабі Хайфа та проводить програми тег-регбі в Хайфі, де він зараз проживає.

Вдячність програмі “Наала”

“Я дуже ціную можливість, яка була надана мені в рамках програми ‘Наала’, що дозволила мені спокійно розглянути інтеграцію в Ізраїлі,” каже Юрій. Він рекомендує програму кожному молодому єврею, який хоче дослідити можливість іммігрувати до Ізраїлю в підтримуючих та оптимальних умовах.

Під час навчання в молодіжному селищі Рамат Хадасса, він отримав важливі інструменти для інтеграції в ізраїльське суспільство. “Село дало мені можливість розквітнути та досягти успіху,” розповідає він. Індивідуальна програма, поєднання навчання, соціального розвитку та життєвих навичок допомогли Юрію не лише швидко інтегруватися, але й мріяти масштабно і навіть грати за молодіжну збірну Ізраїлю з регбі.
