Final Whistle | A Look Back at the Season

Season Recap with Amir Beutler, Chairman of the League and Cup Committee

Here we are, just moments away from the grand final of the senior league, and what an incredible season it has been! Looking back on our journey this year, especially given the challenges our country is facing, I feel an overwhelming sense of pride in our Israeli rugby community.

From the very first round, it was clear this season was going to be a tight contest. Yizreel demonstrated strength and consistency throughout, securing the top spot once again and proving why they have been champions for the past four seasons. However, what truly stood out was the growth and resilience of every team, especially after a year filled with war, reserve duty, and uncertainty.

Hadarim played a fantastic season, showing great determination and fighting spirit. Maccabi Tel Aviv, despite challenges with squad depth, proved their character as true athletes with a stunning comeback in the semi-finals, overcoming Hadarim. The Menashe Mammoths, Haifa, and Ashkelon-Jerusalem showcased quality rugby, giving us a glimpse of the bright future ahead for Israeli rugby.

The semi-finals delivered unforgettable drama. Yizreel secured a convincing win over the Mammoths, while Maccabi Tel Aviv pulled off a spectacular comeback against Hadarim in a thrilling battle that was decided in the final moments. This is what rugby is all about—fighting until the last second, respecting your opponents, and showing true sportsmanship.

One of the biggest highlights of the season was the emergence of young talent making their mark on the league. Players like Ami Blass, Ido Hadar, Ido Leibowitz, and Adam Hadari have proven that the future is bright. This is the essence of Israeli rugby—nurturing the next generation, passing on the love for the game, and building a strong, united community.

And now, the grand final is set for Saturday, March 1st, at 13:00 in Kibbutz Yizreel—Yizreel vs. Maccabi Tel Aviv. Two clubs with rich histories, a match that promises intensity, passion, and the highest level of rugby Israel has to offer.

I call on all sports fans—come support, cheer, and be part of this celebration of Israeli rugby. Rugby is more than just a game—it is a way of life that teaches us respect, commitment, teamwork, and perseverance until the very last whistle.

See you on Saturday in Yizreel, for another final that will go down in Israeli rugby history!
